Group Funding Calculator

‘CommUnity Group Funding Calculator’ is an opportunity for you to estimate the amounts of money CommUnity might generate for your CommUnity Group. These calculations only refer to shopping when using a credit or debit card. All numbers you insert into the spaces below are your responsibility as what we have done is provide you with a platform for you to estimate/speculate the level of untagged funds you might generate for your CommUnity Group.

 

The boxes that are fixed and are ‘read only’ are based on statistics from NZ Statistics Survey 2019/2020

 

For example; for the year ended 30 June 2019, the average weekly expenditure for New Zealand households was $1,349. This is a net figure after deductions from sales, trade-ins, and refunds are accounted for.

  • Total expenditure is broken down into 13 different expenditure groups. The first 12 are expressed as proportions of the total gross expenditure, prior to deductions from sales, trade-ins, and refunds. The largest proportions of average weekly household expenditure were:
    • housing and household utilities – 24.8 percent ($344)
    • food – 16.8 percent ($234)
    • transport – 15.5 percent ($216)

All totals that transpire from the numbers you insert below are estimated funding values only and include GST.

How Is Group Funding Calculated?

Just a reminder as to how CommUnity works. CommUnity deposits 60% of the total amount raised from each CommUnity Members’ transactions at CommUnity Merchants into the CommUnity Group accounts as chosen by each CommUnity Member, These funds are untagged so the CommUnity Group can spend these funds as they want. These deposits are made each quarter and forever! All active CommUnity Groups can see the funding balances in real time on the CommUnity App or once logged into the group’s secure web portal at anytime.

The remaining 40% goes into ‘The CommUnity Fund’ where all money will ultimately go back to the community through an application process designed to cater for future projects or programs. CommUnity has the ability to fund up to 100% of the funding required for the successful project or program applicants. CommUnity will work alongside all other funding agencies to make your plans a reality. CommUnity helps with funding for annual operations and future programs or projects.

 

The below calculator only shows the potential funding generated for the 60% of the funds as outlined above
